Anya Alexeyev studied piano at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory with Dmitri Bashkirov and later at the Royal College of Music in London with Irina Zaritskaya. While in London, she received a number of honors, such as the Elizabeth, The Queen Mother's Award for "the most outstanding contribution to the Royal College of Music," the Royal College of Music Gold Medal, First Prize at the Newport International Piano Competition, Young Concert Artists Trust, and the Capital Radio/Anna Instone Memorial Prize.

Alexeyev has performed widely throughout Europe (including Britain, France, Austria, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Russia, Finland, Ireland, Greece, Germany, and Macedonia), as well as in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Malaysia, and South Africa.
​
She has played concertos with numerous distinguished orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic, BBC Philharmonic, Moscow State Symphony, Vienna Chamber, The Philharmonia, Royal Scottish National, Deutschland Radio, City of Birmingham Symphony, Bournemouth Symphony and Sinfonietta, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, London Mozart Players, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, English Chamber, Belgian National Symphony, and Quebec Symphony.

In addition to enjoying playing standard concert repertoire, she is passionate about discovering lesser-known music, which led to performances and recordings of rarely heard works and premieres.
​
She has recorded for EMI, Dutton Epoch, Toccata Classics, Toccata Next, and Marquis Classics labels, and has been broadcast by BBC, GMTV, CBC, Deutschland Radio, and many other radio stations around the world.

Anya Alexeyev teaches on the faculties at Wilfrid Laurier University, Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy, and the Glenn Gould School.
